We are currently accepting applications for a full-time sous chef/line cook position.
We are a family owned and operated restaurant with a small but dedicated and professional staff. Our menu’s offer rustic, regional Italian dishes in a fine dining setting in the small community of The Plains, VA (located approximately 15 minutes from Haymarket, 10 minutes from Marshall, and 15 minutes from Middleburg). All of our bread, pastas, soups, sauces, and desserts are made in house, with many of our vegetables grown on sight in a modest backyard garden when possible. Our chef and owner is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has over 30 years of experience in DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Iowa, France, and Italy.
The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, collegial, and hardworking. Upscale dining work experience is preferred. Most importantly, the right candidate will see a future for him or herself in our small business, and willing to take on additional responsibilities over time based on need and interest.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Line cooking experience is preferable; however, on-the-job training can be provided to the motivated candidate with a good work history.
• Be an integral part of our small kitchen team and provide support and creativity in any area needed, including preparing dishes for standard menu items, preparing salads, making bread and pasta, cooking on the line, and cleaning the kitchen at the end of each shift.
• Manage inventory, identifying items to be ordered, and ensuring products for standard menu items are on hand.
Must be available 5 days a week (with Friday, Saturday, and Sundays being 3 of those days), and be a team player who works well in a small kitchen environment.
