New Year’s Eve Dinner

On New Year’s Eve, Chef Patierno will feature the following four-course, fixed-price dinner. Each course has several options, so there’s certain to be something to please every palate. Seatings are from 5 – 10 pm.  The cost is $95 per person, exclusive of beverages, tax, and gratuity.  Add 3 wine pairings for an additional $35 per person.
 

Antipasti

Buffalo mozzarella with roasted red pepper and extra virgin olive oil
House smoked salmon sliced thick with apple and sherry vinegar
Mushroom risotto
Raviolo Bergese
A single house made raviolo filled with a Tuscan ragù and an egg yolk
Oysters Florentine
Skate and Romanesco soup traditional to Rome
Pan seared foie gras with Morello cherries, roasted hazelnuts, and saba
($22 supplement)

Optional Wine Pairing – Casale del Giglio Bellone OR Casale de Giglio Cesanese Rosso 

Insalate
Local arugula tossed with artisanal olive oil and lemon, with shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano
Shaved fennel with melon, tossed with a citrus vinaigrette and crushed pistachios
Belgian Endive tossed with a house vinaigrette, shaved imported Fontina
Treviso Radicchio with mixed greens, hazelnuts, and a passion fruit vinaigrette

Optional Wine Pairing: Vignamato Verdicchio OR Vignamato Rosso Piceno

Veal cannelloni
Salmon and leek ravioli, served in a lemon butter
Housemade garganelli with a beef cheek ragù
Venison medallions with brandies cherries

The story begins with a Venetian merchant and his shipmates blown off the coast of Ireland by a violent storm that severely damaged their ship. The merchant and his remaining crew clung to lifeboats until they were saved by the inhabitants of the Norwegian island of Røst. On the island they saw how cod was cleaned, preserved in salt, and air dried along the coast, making it last almost indefinitely. 

This is the origin story of salted cod in Venice, and of the beloved dish of baccalà alla mantecato alla Veneziana, or Venetian style whipped cod. Fast forward some 600 years and the Confraternita del Baccalà Mantecato, or the Brotherhood of Creamed Cod, has been formed to preserve and promote the original recipe of the Venetian dish.

Customers have said our tomatoes are the best they have ever tasted. Maybe it's the heirloom varietals we use, maybe it's nearly 20 years of tilling and composting the soil with all the food scraps from our kitchen, or maybe it's the lifetime of knowledge Chef Lou carries since gardening with his father from when he was a boy........whatever it is, we can't get enough and the tomatoes just keep coming and coming!

Find our garden tomatoes in many forms on our specials this week, and until the end of the summer when Chef Lou’s garden is ready for fall crops!
