What started as a tranquil retreat in which to enjoy their retirement, the humble property Rita Tua and her husband, Virgilio Bisti, bought has become a shining star of Italian wines. In 1984, Rita and Virgilio realized their lifelong dream purchasing the property that became Tua Rita. The landscape and buildings on this property were a mere setting for living close with nature while farming their beloved land. Their overwhelming passion for wine soon changed their plans. In less than a decade, the couple nearly doubled their property, the growth driven by Rita and Virgilio’s enduring enthusiasm and ever-deepening awareness of the potential of the area, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Colline Metallifere, known as Val di Cornia.
The winery released its first vintage in 1992, and soon began receiving praise and accolades from wine enthusiasts worldwide. In just five short years, Tua Rita’s Redigaffi had achieved cult-like status, receiving outstanding ratings from the world’s most prestigious wine critics and publications. Critic Robert Parker said the 1999 Redigaffi was “as close to perfection as a wine can get.” The following year, he gave the 2000 Redigaffi a perfect 100 point score. The winery’s Super Tuscan, Giusti di Notri, also garners near-universal praise. Luca D’Attoma, the estate’s winemaker, keeps yields to a minimum to ensure concentration of flavors. The estate’s total annual production is just 3,400 cases.

Each of the five courses have been thoughtfully created by Chef Lou to accompany and compliment the wines of Tua Rita.
