This exclusive event is like no other in the DC metropolitan area, and features a lavish 5 course menu with wine pairings by G.D. Vajra of Barolo, Italy. Known as the ‘diamonds of the kitchen’ the white truffle from Alba, Italy is difficult to find and impossible to cultivate. We invite you to help us celebrate the world’s most magnificent and sought after fungi, and over two decades of friendship with the Vaira family. Each course is thoughtfully created to compliment the wines of G.D. Vajra, and to enhance the aroma and unique flavor of the white truffle. Giuseppe Vaira will once again be joining us to present his family’s wines for this year’s dinner! Menu and pairings below, due to rising import costs, not all courses will feature white truffles as in years past.
“Aldo and Milena Vaira are among the quietest and most introspective of Piedmont’s top echelon growers. It is the wines that do the talking here, and they do that ever so eloquently.”
– Antonio Galloni

About our host, Giuseppe Vaira
Giuseppe Vaira represents the second generation at G.D. Vajra, together with siblings Francesca and Isidoro. He received a very early inception at the age of 15, both in the vineyards and cellar operations. Giuseppe recalls those days as “some of the most beautiful of my life – I love the purity, the honesty of farming our vines”. Despite studies in liberal arts and being admitted to medicine and business schools, he opted for a degree in viticulture and winemaking at Università degli Studi di Torino. He currently serves as winemaker alongside his father, Aldo. Giuseppe was featured in The Drinks Business “30 winemakers under 40 to watch” in January 2014. He is married to Sophie and has four children: Lucia, Aldo, Mia and Teresa.
